Of the unlicensed ISM frequencies used in the world, UHF 300-900MHz is the perfect choice for NLOS wireless networks. UHF allows wireless transmissions to travel distances of up to 20km with obstructions such as tree and buildings in the way using a directional antenna with around 15dBi of gain. For indoor wireless NLOS applications, some higher powered UHF radios can penetrate up to 10 walls!
